The Oasis Documentary Supersonic is due out on 2 October and according director Mat Whitecross the aim was to capture all the excitement of Oasis’s meteoric rise from early gigs in Manchester in ’93, through to their peak at Knebworth in August ’96, when they played to a quarter of a million people. “The problem we had,” Whitecross says, “was that, back then, not everything was filmed, unlike today, where everyone’s got their phones out.” However, the unseen footage includes scenes from Oasis’s disastrous 1994 gig at LA’s Whisky A Go Go, as well as the recording of Champagne Supernova.

오아시스 다큐멘터리 ⟨수퍼소닉⟩은 올해 10월 2일 (*영국 기준) 개봉을 앞두고 있으며, 감독 맷 화이크로스에 따르면 본 영화는 93년의 맨체스터 초기 공연에서부터, 96년 넵워스에서 20여 만 관중 앞에서 공연하는 것으로 정점을 찍기까지 이어지는 오아시스의 급부상과 그에 따른 모든 즐거움을  포착하는 것에 초점을 맞추고 있다고 한다. “우리의 문제는,” 화이트크로스가 말하길, “그때로 돌아가보자면, 모든 순간들이 촬영된 것이 아니었다는 점이다. 모두가 휴대폰을 들고 나오는 오늘날과는 다르게 말이다.” 그러나, 미공개 영상 중에는 Champagne Supernova의 녹음 과정 영상 뿐만 아니라, LA의 Whisky A Go Go에서 있었던 1994년의 재난 같은 공연도 포함될 것이라고 한다.

There are also unseen clips from rehearsals at Oasis’s debut TV performance on The Word, and from Knebworth, which has still never been fully documented.

또한 미공개 클립 영상 중에는 The Word에서 이루어진 오아시스의 TV 데뷰 공연과, 아직 제대로 자료화된 적 없는 넵워스에서의 모습들이 있을 것으로 전해진다.

There are no talking-head interviews, just voices narrating the footage you see unfolding. The effect, says Whitecross, “is like Liam and Noel are in the same room, like they’re having a conversation.”

본인이 화면에 출연해 면대면으로 이루어지는 인터뷰는 없을 것이며, 그저 펼쳐지는 영상들을 보는 사이에 목소리 나레이션이 깔리는 식이 될 것이라고 한다. 화이트크로스는 이렇게 말했다. “마치 리암과 노엘이 같은 방에 있는 듯한 느낌이 들 것이다. 마치 두 사람이 대화를 나누는 것처럼 말이다.”
